Regulatory Requirements Provincial Licensure /Certification/Registration Provincial regulations apply to the dental assisting profession in most Canadian jurisdictions. The NDAEB Theory Exam and Clinical Practice Evaluation may only be part of the licensure/registration/certification requirements in a province. You are advised to contact the CDARA in your province for regulatory information (find more information on the NDAEB website under Registration & Licensure). Returning to Practice A CDARA may require a dental assistant to retake the CPE upon re-entry to practice after a period of time away from the profession. Contact the CDARA for information. During the Clinical Practice Evaluation (CPE), NDAEB staff may take photographs of candidates’ completed work (“product”) as part of the evaluation and verification process. These images may be used by the NDAEB: • as supporting evidence in the review and verification of examination results; and, • for evaluator training and calibration to ensure consistency and fairness in the assessment process. All photographs will be handled in accordance with NDAEB’s confidentiality and privacy policies. Images will not include any personally identifying information and will be securely stored and accessed only by authorized NDAEB personnel. By participating in the CPE, candidates acknowledge and consent to this practice.
