Theory Examination Candidate Handbook

© 1998 – 2026 National Dental Assisting Examining Board 7 Application Transfers and Withdrawals Exam Transfer Candidates may transfer their Theory Examination to any other exam sitting within the current calendar year without financial penalty, provided the request is submitted before the exam application deadline date. To request this transfer, please submit a signed written request via email at office@ndaeb.ca. After the exam application deadline date, candidates may request a one-time transfer of their NDAEB Theory Examination to the next scheduled exam sitting within the same calendar year. No supporting documentation is required for this single transfer. This one-time transfer request must be submitted through the online Withdrawal Request Form no later than 15 calendar days prior to the first day of the examination for which the candidate is currently registered. Transfer requests submitted without supporting documentation after this deadline will not be accepted. Note: Candidates are permitted one transfer only. Once the one-time transfer is used, any subsequent request will be processed as a withdrawal, and the applicable withdrawal fees will be applied. Application Withdrawal Exam applications can be withdrawn at any time; however, candidates will incur withdrawal fees as outlined below. Candidates must inform the NDAEB office of their withdrawal by completing the NDAEB online Withdrawal Request Form, accessible on our website www.ndaeb.ca . This form must be submitted as soon as possible before the exam date. Withdrawal fees will apply based on the date when the NDAEB office receives the candidate's submitted online Withdrawal Request Form. The withdrawal fee will be deducted from the candidate’s examination payment during the refund process. Fees will be credited back to the credit card used at the time of initial payment. Refunds typically take up to 14 business days to be processed. Applicants withdrawing from the examination due to circumstances related to illness or emergency (unanticipated exceptional circumstances), MUST accompany their request with a supporting documentation, issued by the regulated health care professional or a recognized institution, such as a government agency (e.g., police, social services etc.). Upon review by the NDAEB, examination withdrawal fees may be waived. The NDAEB reserves the right to determine circumstances that qualify as grounds for withdrawal without financial penalty*. In the event a candidate does not successfully complete all requirements of their dental assisting program (including practicum(s)), a candidate must formally withdraw from the exam sitting. Candidates must submit the Withdrawal Request Form with supporting documentation from their program no later than the last business day prior to the exam date(s) by 4:30 p.m. Eastern time. If the withdrawal request is not received by NDAEB in time, withdrawal fee will apply. Candidates registered for the examination and who fail to present for the sitting (“No-Show”) will be assessed the full examination fee. In the event a candidate is unable to attend the exam sitting for medical or serious personal reasons, their exam fees may be reimbursed, or the candidate may be transferred** to the next session without additional charge, provided the candidate submits a recent letter from a physician or other regulated professional, confirming the reason for failing to attend the exam. Candidates must submit their documentation to the NDAEB office via email (office@ndaeb.ca) no later than 30 days following the exam date they did not attend to receive
