Candidate Handbook

© 1998 – 2024 National Dental Assisting Examining Board 19 Candidate Handbook for the Written Examination – 2024 allotted to complete the examination. Candidates requiring time to use the washroom/get a drink of water and/or snack, dismiss themselves from their exam room at the direction of the test center facilitator knowing that their allotted time is not stopped. For test security purposes, candidates taking remote proctored examinations are also not provided any scheduled breaks. Should a candidate request a break, your time to complete the exam is not adjusted (this includes the time required for remote proctors to resecure the testing environment). Candidates requesting a break do so at their own risk. Candidates must follow the directives set by the testing centre when leaving the test room to use the washroom or any unscheduled break. Note: Should a candidate require regular breaks, water/dietary requirements for medical purposes, those candidates must schedule themselves at a testing center. A testing accommodations form is required at the time of applying and supporting documentation is required (see details in the Testing Accommodations section of this handbook). 9. Candidates are responsible for protecting the integrity of their answers. If cheating is detected or evidence of cheating is disclosed at the time exam results are being assessed, those involved, whether they are copiers or those copied from, will receive a failing grade on the exam. This warning notice will not be repeated but will be in effect and applicable to all parts of the examination. 10. Candidates are not permitted to copy or record any items from the examination. Attempts to record exam material will be considered cheating and will result in a score of zero and further consequences will apply. 11. To protect the integrity of the examination, candidates are not permitted to read aloud at any volume the questions and/or answers. 12. Candidates must do the following if experiencing a circumstance beyond their control that severely disadvantages them immediately before or during the examination: • If the event occurs at the exam site before or during the examination, candidates must immediately notify their exam facilitator/testing center. • If the event occurs at the exam site during the examination, candidates must submit a written signed letter to the NDAEB, documenting the event, within one (1) week after the exam date. • Candidates who do not appear for the exam and/or experiencing medical emergencies or illnesses immediately before and/or during the exam, must notify NDAEB within one (1) week of their scheduled exam and submit their supporting documentation no later than 30 days following the exam date. Future consideration may not be given by the NDAEB to candidates who have not followed the prescribed procedure. Note: Please be aware the role of the test centre facilitators and remote online proctors is strictly to monitor and deliver a secure examination on behalf of the NDAEB. Facilitators and remote proctors are not permitted to explain, answer or guide candidates with any questions pertaining to the material appearing on the examination.
